Having participated in at least half a dozen of these “transitions,” we’ve found that, as a growing business reaches anywhere from $3 million to $5 million in annual sales and fifty or more employees, it reaches the point where it must transition from the” bookkeeper-centric” model that had worked previously to a “department-centric” accounting/finance structure. To speed and smooth this transition, we suggest that you turn the entire process over to us. We work with the existing bookkeeping staff and, along with ownership/senior management, design the optimal staff structure for a new accounting department, develop job descriptions, implement the new structure, and then, after paving the way, assist in the hiring of a permanent CFO/Controller to whom we turn over a functioning accounting department.
